The Vuitton building itself is a blueprint for social and environmental sustainability. There are enough solar panels to heat 56 per cent of the plant’s hot water, and a geothermal heat pump provides the rest. Rainwater is collected and recycled, and everywhere there is natural light. The main building is divided into four separate workshops, each devoted to what are rather quaintly referred to as ‘elegant women’s shoes’; trainers; men’s and women’s moccasins – car shoes and loafers that are an increasingly important part of Vuitton’s shoe business (despite the seemingly small team of men and women who hand-stitch each moccasin with a needle and thread); and classic men’s shoes with leather soles, which are hand-painted and polished at the end of the process. Artisans at Louis Vuitton’s shoe atelier in Italy work on the high-heeled ankle-strap shoes for the luxury houses’s autumn/winter ready-to-wear show at Paris Fashion Week.

He is also under investigation for money laundering, drug trafficking and manslaughter for a hit-and-run accident. Authorities are struggling to figure out how he amassed so much money. “Over the years there have been several cases of men who abused the robe, but never has a monk been implicated in so many crimes,” said Pong-in Intarakhao, the case’s chief investigator for the Department of Special Investigation, Thailand’s equivalent of the FBI. “We have never seen a case this widespread, where a monk has caused so much damage to so many people and to Thai society.” Cases of monk misconduct in recent years have centered on alcohol use or cavorting with women or men, all forbidden activities. Last year, about 300 of Thailand’s 61,416 full-time monks were reprimanded and in several cases disrobed for violating their vows, according to the Office of National Buddhism. In Wirapol’s case, investigators believe they have only scratched the surface. Born in the poor northeastern province of Ubon Ratchathani, he entered the monkhood as a teenager and gained local renown for claims of supernatural powers like the ability to fly, walk on water and talk to deities. He renamed himself, Luang Pu Nen Kham, taking on a self-bestowed title normally reserved for elder monks.

Now, you may be asking what’s so hot about Epi leather, especially since it’s ribbed and structured rather than soft and supple. That raised texture means that it can withstand a beating (read: this bag knows how much it’s going to be used, and it’s ready to last a lifetime). But the best part about this new collection just may be the colors. You can now get a Neverfull in seven hues, from bright blue to deep red and brilliant orange. If there’s a way to add an instant burst of chromatic personality to your outfit, this is it. We love the idea of the blue for Summer perfectly paired with a white sundress but if you’re looking to get a little more mileage out of your bag, we could totally see carrying the purple or red Neverfull straight into Fall.
